Paganos Market - 20th and Market St

Thanksgiving Dinner Wednesday at Paganos

1) Tray full of thanksgiving delight - $11.47
They have a wide array of sandwiches, pizzas, a salad bar and even a section for gourmet cakes but I am most thankful for this weekly tradition at Paganos.  Admittedly, asking me to have an unbiased opinion about thanksgiving food is like asking the fat kid to watch the cake but I think I can make some critical remarks here.  Turkey was a bit dry and times before the stuffing has been salty and over baked.  Still, my childhood having been so utterly deprived of this thanksgiving tradition, every time I wander into Paganos on a Wednesday I am compelled to make up for it by scarfing down as much of this as I can handle.  [8/10]

Overall LTE score [6/10]  Been here many times before as this place sits right at the foot of my building.  My thanksgiving bias aside Paganos is mostly average, usually my go to place when the weather's too inclement to venture out.

Guapos Tacos Food Truck - Love Park

Me Gusta Guapos Tacos
An iron chef opening up a food truck...we have come a long way

1) Chipolte Short Rib Taco - $7
I actually found these to be a little under seasoned and a tad on the bland side but the beef itself was very tender.  [6/10]

2) Hongos Con Rajas Taco - $6
Such a mass of mushroomy goodness these little tacos are.  Roasted mushrooms, poblano peppers, tomatos, onions, white cheese, everything melds very well together.  I'm usually not a vegetarian option eater so there was a point where I felt a little overwhelmed by the mouthfuls of mushrooms I was taking in but still it was all very tasty.  [9/10]

Not ordered but remembered
Duck Barbacoa tacos I've had before and I would definitely say those are my favorite menu item so far.

Overall LTE score [8/10] minuses for being expensive(just 1 order really is not enough for a full meal) and not all tacos are a hit.  Check out their twitter account for location information.

Obento Japanese Lunch - 17th and Market St

O Bento and Catering?  More like O Crapo and Expensive!

1) O Bento Sushi Bento Box, $12.99
The good: fish wasn't warm
The bad: sashimi pieces were the size of postage stamps, sushi pieces were even smaller, rice balls were dry, it was all mediocre and including a bottle of water my total came out to $15 and change.  Left still hungry, feeling ripped off with a hint of unsatisfied anger.  [1/10]

2) Soba Noodle Combo, $10.99
The bad: overcooked, tasteless, bland, bad.  The noodles were almost paste like, what kept them from melting back into the dough that they came from is a mystery.
the shrimp tempura, which looked huge and crunchy in the photos, was actually some anorexic cousin of the shrimp also soggy and oily.  didnt taste terrible though.  [1/10]

Overall LTE score [1/10]  1 point for not poisoning us
